About us.
Our goal is for a world without food waste. 9.5 million tonnes of food is wasted in the UK each year, and with over 8.4 million people living in food poverty, something needs to be done,
We collect from multiple food outlets (supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants) 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and distribute this food to anyone in the community for free. We don’t believe in means testing – this blocks many people from accessing services and goes against the main environmental goal of our service.
Since 2020, we’ve grown, collecting from more and more outlets and distributing across a wider geographical area than ever before. We cover a large area of East Devon through our branches in Beer and Honiton, providing hundreds of households with food every week.
Our History
November 2020
We started our services on the 30th November 2020 at the Mackarness Hall, Honiton during the height of the Coronavirus pandemic. We delivered one box of food on our first session – which has now grown to over a hundred orders each week.
April 2021
We moved from our original venue, the Mackarness Hall, to the Honiton Family Church – which has been our main home since!
June 2022
We streamlined our ordering process, moving from people ordering individual items to selecting categories of what people wanted to order. This allowed us to scale up with demand only increasing.
November 2023
Our branch in Beer opens at the Mariners’ Hall, providing food to over 50 families per week to residents of local villages and towns.
Our Funders
We are extremely grateful for the many local authorities, businesses and individuals that have helped us thrive over the years – we simply wouldn’t be here without them. Please find some examples of our supporters below:
